Sensei Lynda Thomas 3rd Dan Karate, Senior SESMA Instructor
Originally from Derby, Sensei Lynda moved to Norfolk in 1994. She has been married for over 20 years and has two sons, one of which is also a 3rd Dan in Karate. Lynda qualified as a Graphic Designer in 1980 and after 4 year in a design studio her career path changed. She used her graphic design skills to assist the teaching of sign language to deaf and hard of hearing children at the Royal School of the Deaf in Derby. This led to a role as an educational care officer. Since this time, Lynda has been primarily working in nursery, infant and junior school environments in either a teaching assistant or voluntary role.
Sensei Lynda joined SESMA in 2003 and gained her black belt in December 2007, 2nd Dan in June 2010 and her 3rd Dan in 2013. Sensei Lynda has been teaching for many years at and is one of SESMA’s senior instructors.
What does Lynda enjoy most about martial arts?
Since Sensei Lynda gained her black belt, she has helped with the teaching of the Little Dragon classes at the studio and has been running her own classes at the studio for many years now. Lynda also assists Master Wayne in the After School Clubs that SESMA run at local schools. Seeing how her own son has developed with the help from martial arts (her eldest is a Black Belt), Lynda enjoys passing on the benefits of martial arts to other children and find teaching very rewarding.
Lynda’s other interests include archery, painting on silk and generally experimenting with different arts and crafts. She believes that life is to be enjoyed and that you must constantly challenge yourself and have fun.
