SESMA & Norwich Rotary Club

🥋 SESMA Martial Arts Receives Rotary Corporate Membership Plaque 🤝

We were delighted to welcome Karen, President of Black Friars Rotary Club Norwich, to SESMA Martial Arts recently, where she officially presented us with our Rotary Corporate Membership Plaque.

For us, this was more than just a plaque presentation. It represents a shared commitment to supporting our local community and making a positive difference wherever we can.

Many people know SESMA as a martial arts school, but over the years we’ve worked hard to be much more than that. Whether it’s helping children build confidence, delivering anti-bullying messages, supporting local events, or fundraising for worthwhile causes, giving back to the community has always been part of our mission.

Since joining Rotary, we’ve already had the opportunity to increase that support.

We’re proud to have assisted both St Martin’s Housing Trust, helping support those experiencing homelessness, and Thrive Autism, an organisation doing fantastic work supporting autistic individuals and their families.

We’re also excited to be assisting with Wrap Up Norwich 2026, a wonderful initiative that collects warm coats and winter clothing for people who need them most during the colder months.

One of the greatest benefits of joining Rotary is the opportunity to connect with other people and organisations who share the same desire to make a difference. It allows SESMA to contribute more, support more local causes, and reach more people than we could alone.

Our martial arts classes teach respect, leadership, perseverance and community spirit every day. Through Rotary, we’re able to take those values beyond the training mats and into the wider Norwich community.

A huge thank you to Karen and everyone at Black Friars Rotary Club Norwich for the warm welcome and continued support.

We’re looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the months and years ahead.

💙 Stronger together. Better together. Serving our community together.

SESMA Sponsoring Young Achiever Award

🥋 Celebrating the Next Generation of Community Champions 🏆

Last year, SESMA Martial Arts had the honour of being nominated for the Business in the Community Award. Attending the awards evening was a powerful reminder of something we truly believe in…

There are incredible people in our community doing amazing things every single day — often without recognition.

That experience inspired us.

This year, we’re proud to be sponsoring the Young Achiever of the Year Award at the Broadland Community Awards 2026.

Because young people who step up, show kindness, lead by example, and make a difference deserve to be seen, celebrated, and remembered.

At SESMA, giving back has always been part of who we are.
And supporting this award is our way of shining a light on those young individuals who might otherwise go unnoticed… but are quietly changing lives around them.

SESMA Scarecrow

We Need Your Help With….

Green/Red/White milk bottle tops
Toilet roll & Kitchen roll card board centres
Small plastic water bottles (up to 1 litre size)
Blue plastic bags

please bring to reception thank you

August 1st – 15th 2026

SESMA will be taking part in this trail

The Scarecrow trail is being held around Taverham, Drayton and Thorpe Marriott and is to raise money for Hall School Norfolk – A Specialist College for Communication and Interaction, chosen by a locally bereaved family.

Our scarecrow display is inspired by the ancient Chinese Dragon Gate Legend.

The story tells of a brave carp that swims upstream against strong currents. Many fish turn back, but the carp keeps going. After showing determination, courage and perseverance, it finally leaps over the Dragon Gate and is transformed into a mighty dragon.

At SESMA Martial Arts, we believe this story reflects the journey of every student. Everyone starts as a beginner, but through hard work, practice, resilience and a positive attitude, they can achieve amazing things.

Our scarecrow represents the carp’s journey to becoming a dragon and celebrates the values we teach every day: respect, discipline, perseverance, confidence and self-belief.

Just like the carp, every child has the potential to achieve great things when they keep trying and never give up.
