Brief Background
Originally from Derby, I moved to Norfolk in1994. I have been married for 20 years and have two sons aged 12 and 9. I qualified as a Graphic Designer in 1980 and after 4 year in a design studio my career path changed and I used my graphic design skills to assist the teaching of sign language to deaf and hard of hearing children at the Royal School of the Deaf in Derby. This led to a role as an educational care officer. Since this time I have been primarily working in nursery, infant and junior school environments in either a teaching assistant or voluntary role.
I joined SESMA in 2003 and gained my black belt in December2007, 2nd Dan in June 2010 and my 3rd Dan in December 2013. Now my son has to work hard to catch me up.

What do I enjoy most about martial arts?
Since gaining my black belt I have helped with the teaching of the Little Dragon classes at the studio, assisted in the After School Clubs that SESMA run at local schools and have been running my own classes for the last 4 years. Seeing how my own son has developed with the help from martial arts (my eldest is a Black Belt & assist instructor) I enjoy passing on the benefits of martial arts to other children and find teaching very rewarding.

Future Aspirations
To work my way up the grades to black belt in Kickboxing. Assist my children their development in martial arts.

My other interests include archery, painting on silk and generally experimenting with different arts and crafts. I believe that life is to be enjoyed and that you must constantly challenge yourself and have fun.

Sifu Colin Browne

1st Level Black Sash Huk Fu Lung Pi, San Chia Chaun and Ng Gar Kung Fu

Senior Kungfu Instructor for SESMA

Brief Background was born in Norwich in 1976 and have lived here all my life. I started my journey into martial arts at the age of 8 when I trained in Taekwondo, after 2 years my instructor returned to Korea to continue his training. The Taekwondo class stopped once he left so I tried several different styles of martial arts over the next 5 years before I found a style at the age of 15 that best suited me. This was a 3 animal style kung fu called Huk Fu Lung Pi. In 2002 I achieved my first level black sash after some 11 years of training. In 2003 my instructor stopped teaching Huk Fu Lung Pi to devote himself to teaching the traditional Lung Gow and Pak Mei Kung fu. Since then I have been teaching on and off and training with other instructors to increase my knowledge base and continue my journey.

What do I enjoy most about martial arts?
I enjoy the continuous challenge and that there are no limits to what you can learn. No matter how high a level you achieve there are always new styles and techniques to learn and improve your skills

Future Aspirations
For the future I hope to be able to pass on my knowledge of kung fu to a larger base and continue my own development into martial arts.

I like training, football, reading and spending time with my family.
I dislike time wasters and bureaucracy
