SESMA Wins 20 Medals at the WMAGC World Martial Arts Games in America
After a flat out two days of competition the event has come to a finish for the Sesma team and they definitely lived up to their expectations.
Coming away with the following results within the WMAGC organisation:
5X WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD MEDALS
2x WORLD GRAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
1X GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP SILVER MEDAL
7X WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SILVER MEDALS
5X WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BRONZE MEDALS
The team sesma showed great mental strength and professionalism throughout the competition and didn’t let any less than hoped for results get them down for a second.
Isabel after achieving third place in creative forms, told the rest of the team “I’m not losing again!”… And then went on to win gold in Japanese kata and the grand championships!
This is the type of grit and determination it takes to get to the top.
It is the WMAGC European games next year and already members of the A&B teams are getting through qualifying stages for a chance to be in team GB.
If you’ve never competed before then it’s never too late to start as there are plenty of qualifiers left… But it does require hard work and determination!

SESMA are also pleased to announce that 4 of their karate athletes, Chloe Miller, Rhys Carter, Isabel Swanborough & Nyah Spedding have all been hand selected to compete at the British Karate Federation BKF International tournament in just two months’ time.
Competing at the BKF are the first steps of being selected for the world’s highest Karate organisation the World Karate Federation WKF and possibly the Oympics.
While these 4 are starting a new chapter in their pro careers, the new wave of SESMA superstars are working hard with their eyes set on next season’s competitions.

For students that are on the Advance /Elite packages (2 classes per week) there is the dedicated KATA class that concentrates solely on your grade and kata.
Each class has 2-3 instructors to help you get your kata its best, but you will still need to practice at home too.
We are extremely awesome instructors, but you still need to do some work yourself.
Yellow belts and above will need to perform the new kata for their next belt.
The katas are also available to view on the SESMA Members Portal.

Summer Extra Train & Grade

Only for karate yellow, Orange, Green, 2nd Green, Blue Belts
For those who may not have been ready the previous grading and for those who want to get ahead, we are running a special training and grading day which allow people an extra grading. It involves a 4 hour training session, followed by a free grading.
The training session will be run by min of 2 instructors, and will cover all the things that are on the syllabus for the next grade.
This option is only available for a limited amount of students, so it is basically a first come first served situation. If you are interested in this, please put name & grade on an envelope with payment and pass to your Sensei. The price is £75 per person
Norwich SESMA Studio: Tuesday 22nd August 9-1pm Training 2pm Grading
Please bring a drink, snack & lunch as there will be breaks during the day to keep their energy and concentration up. No fizzy drink or sweets.
Please note: that attending the 4 hours training does not guarantee that you will pass the grading.
FAMILY PICNIC Fun day
AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 28TH 11AM
Come and join us for a family day of activities and games.
We will be doing Archery / Crate stacking / cross bows and water rockets for a bit of a laugh, then stop for a picnic and then have some family games in the afternoon, quick cricket, and rounders.
You will NEED TO BOOK by the 21st August so I can arrange help for the activities.
Meet at 11am on the 28 August at the 30th Norwich scout HQ in tusting close sprowston NR7 8TD.
More NERF WARS Dates
The Nerf Gun play starts with your battle kit being issued before top secret, very important safety briefing. Then it’s into the zone for fun filled Nerf gun battle action under the watchful eyes of your battlefield commanders!
All safety equipment, scenarios, guns and FUN provided.
£10 per player.
Black Belt Gradings
Karate Black Belts Grading will also be held at SESMA on Saturday August 5th 1pm
If you are wanting to grade for your Black Belt, you must see your instructor for a Permission To Grade Slip.
New Ladies Only Kickboxing Classes
New Ladies Kickboxing/Fitness/Self Defence class starting soon.
Today it was confirmed that Hannah Earley, who is a SESMA Kickboxing Black Belt, works as a fitness professional instructor for David Llyod and ATP Matt Phillpot.
Its going to be an awesome weekly class.

What an awesome effort these 3 made at their Black Belt Kickboxing grading.
2 hours of non stop fitness, Kick & punching techniques, bag & padwork and sparring.
Lee & Liz awarded 1st Dan Black Belt and Jesse passed and awarded 2nd Dan Black Belt.
World Martial Art Games
As you know some of our SESMA family have been chosen to represent Great Britain at the World Martial Art Games in America.
And they fly off to Florida this week to compete in the World Martial Art Games representing Great Britain.
We wish them the greatest of luck and fingers crossed they become World Champions.

Parents have you ever thought of joining in with you children while they are learning their martial art?
I know some of you have and once taken the step of joining in have really enjoyed themselves, and have graded for their belts.
This is how Sensei Lynda & Maria started their martial art journey by training with their children.

The excuse I hear a lot of the time is that “I’m too old to do that”, but you are never too old to enjoy time with your children.
I would like to encourage parents to support their children and train as a family by offering parents a free beginners 4 lesson trial and a reduced membership price of £49.

You will move into the BBT class with your child and will be helped by one of the Elite Leadership students so that you will quickly feel at ease and pick up the techniques.

SESMA have sparring pads in stock, if they dont have them, they can order them in for you.
Yes you may be able to buy from Amazon or Ebay for cheaper, but is the quality and standard meet competition & insurance requirements.
Plus SESMA are the same or cheaper than most martial art company brands like Blitz.
