SESMA Representing GB at the Euros
The European Martial Art Games are on Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th August in London and SESMA have 13 students representing Great Britain.
The students pictured have been competing and winning medals at qualifying competitions during 2023 and were chosen to represent their country at the GB Team selections in February 2024.
Since the selections, the chosen SESMA members have been training weekly at the SESMA Comp training sessions and monthly with the GB squad.
For all, this will be their first International amateur martial arts competition… apart from Sensei Ben’s who has competed at 2 World Martial Art tournaments.

You may know that we hold a KATA Friday on the 1st Friday of the month.
We are making a time change to the KATA Friday to make it easier for all to attend.

Summer NERF Dates
The Nerf Gun play starts with your battle kit being issued before top secret, very important safety briefing. Then it’s into the zone for fun filled Nerf gun battle action under the watchful eyes of your battlefield commanders!
All safety equipment, scenarios, guns and FUN provided.
£10 per player.
NEXT White & Red belt grading
We will be giving out invites to White & Red Belts in September to attend their grading on:
Saturday 28th September 1pm Kickboxing Karate 2pm
On the day of your grading, could you please:
Wear full martial arts outfit inc belt
£20 payment for your White to Red Belt Grading (pay on the day)
£30 for Red to Yellow Belt Grading (pay on the day)

New Demo Weapons Classes
Starting in September on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month.
Depending on interest, will be a bi-monthly weapons class open to karate & kickboxers (6yrs+)
The first rotation (8 sessions) will be on Bo Staff.
You will be taught a number of techniques, spins, strikes, throws, transitions and how to combine them to make combinations.
From your combinations, we will guide you on how to develop your own kata, which could be used for competitions.

Back to School
Do you prepare your warriors for going back to school?
When I was a boy 🙂 my parents would bring my bedtime forward and get me up early in the morning, so my body & head was ready for going back to school.
This helped greatly as I use to be really grumpy when i was tired.
They also use to ease me back in to my after school activities as being focused all day at school meant that I was over tired after school.
Resulting in me saying “I don’t want to do karate anymore” but I did want to do karate, just I was tired.
I’m pleased that my parents understood that it was just a case of being tired, otherwise I wouldn’t be a Master instructor and have helped so many children and adults over the decades.
August Licence Payments
Those students that joined SESMA between April to August over 12 months ago, your annual licence/insurance fee (£25) is due.
This will be automatically added to your August Direct Debit via Nest.
You would have received an email from Nest (check spam/junk) explaining that there will be an increase of your DD and that it will go back to normal monthly amount in September.
Please note that this increase is for students that joined between April & August.
We have 3 Licence/Insurance renewal dates: April/August/December depending on when you joined the SESMA Family.
