KATA Friday 1st December
For Yellow Belts & Above
For students that are on the Advance /Elite packages (2 classes per week) there is the dedicated KATA class that concentrates solely on your grade and kata.
Each class has 2-3 instructors to help you get your kata its best, but you will still need to practice at home too.
We are extremely awesome instructors, but you still need to do some work yourself.
Yellow belts and above will need to perform the new kata for their next belt.
The katas are also available to view on the SESMA Members Portal.

EKKA Ipswich Championships
Competition Head Coach Sensei Will took a SESMA team to the English Korean Karate Association EKKA Championships…..
And they did amazingly well.
To get even a bronze podium place takes many rounds of competing at the tournament.
The SESMA medal tally for the day:
3 Golds, 4 Silver & 11 Bronze
I wont mention everyone individually for fear of missing someone, but a special mention goes to Fynnley Lacey who got Gold in the Visually Impaired Section. To make the impairment equally for all, each competitor in the section had to do their kata blind folded.

Peterborough Series
Congratulations everyone who competed at the Peterborough Championship series.
Everyone is showing improvement which is the main goal. Sensei Will (Head Coach) was blown away by our team getting a 1-2-3 podium in categories with 11 players or more, and we did this twice!
Special mention to Lucy Brooks for winning the judges award for the best traditional kata across every category at the event.
Sensei Chloe Para National Training
Big congratulations to Sensei Chloe who attended England Karate national training today in Birmingham and GOOD NEWS! She has been invited to attend the monthly sessions. This is the last barrier to being selected to compete for England on the largest stage in sport karate
Competition Training
If you are interested in competitions and the possibility of being one day representing your country, then please speak to your instructor.
Competition training sessions are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th Friday of the month. 6-7pm Kata 7-8pm Kumite Sparring 8-9pm Kickboxing Sparring

We would like to make this an annual occasion and start a collection to display at the studio.

Hip Hip Hooray
You may have noticed that I haven’t been at the studio much recently, this is due to having my right hip replaced on 20th November.
The surgery was successful and I’m recovering well at home under the watchful eye of my wife Sue, who is making sure that I do not over do it.
Id like to say thank you for the cards and the Batman Lego (Cater/Leo/Emily) and for all the get well wishes.
Thank you to the SESMA Team for stepping up and covering my sessions and some of the behind the scenes stuff that i cant do.
