SESMA Competition Success
Competition Success for SESMA during September at a numerous amateur competitions throughout the month.
The A-Team medaled in every category that they entered in at all the comps.

Even more SESMA Competition Success
At professional level, the awesome SESMA Elite Squad (Senseis Rhys, Chloe, Isabel and Sempei Nyah have done amazingly with winning podium places at the British & English Karate Federation Competitions.
Lucy Brooks and Noah Swanborough will be joining the Elite Squad at competing at a regional competition this Sunday 6th Oct

New Sunday Sparring Sessions
A new Sunday morning kickboxing sparring has class started for those that may be interest in some extra Karate or Kickboxing Sparring.
Due to Sensei Will’s competition commitments, he is unable to have the sessions on a set regular Sunday, but he aims to have 2 a month.
This is a “pay as you train” and not a “Bolt On” to your monthly training fee.
£10 per session payable to Sensei Will at the session.
Next 2 sparring sessions:

Sunday 27th October 9-10am

Karate & Kickboxing Assessments Start 18th Nov
Details of the assessments and grading for the year can be found following the links below.
Yellow Belt & Above Belt Grading:
Kickboxing Saturday 14th Dec from 3pm Karate Sunday 15 from 9am
Black Belt Karate Grading
The next Black Belt Karate Grading is scheduled for Saturday 7th December
Karate 1pm Kickboxing 3pm
If you wish to attempt your Black Belt grading whether Junior, 1st Dan or above, you will need to speak to your instructor for a Black Belt Permission to Grade Slip (Junior/1st Dan pictured).
You will also need to have attended 6 out of 8 Saturday morning sessions starting Saturday 12th October 8am
Those going for 2nd Dan & over, please see your instructor for your Permission to grade slip.
New SESMA Streetwear "1989"
We have just received 2 new designs for SESMA Casual Wear t-shirts (not for class use).
We have had many students over the years so proud of being a member of the SESMA family, that they wear their SESMA polos, t-shirts & hoodies outside of the studio as casual wear.
With this in mind, we have come up with some cool designs for t-shirts.
These will be printed to order and can be on a choice of t-shirt colours.

NEXT White & Red belt grading
We will be giving out invites to White & Red Belts in November 30th to attend their grading on:
Saturday 30th November 1pm Kickboxing Karate 2pm
On the day of your grading, could you please:
Wear full martial arts outfit inc belt
£20 payment for your White to Red Belt Grading (pay on the day)
£30 for Red to Yellow Belt Grading (pay on the day)

Parents....
As you know, we would like parents to come to the SESMA Door to pick up their children, even more so now that the nights are drawing in.
This is for the safety of your children, as the carparks are busy with the change over of classes.
Children do not see the danger when they run across the carpark to you sitting in your car.
Also we can not see parents in their cars and have in the past had children run to similar looking cars.
All our instructors are 1st Aid trained, but we do not really want to practice on a child that has been hit by a car.
So please meet your child at the door. Thank you
You need sparring pads
Like most sports you will need equipment, same with your martial arts.
You need sparring equipment which consists of sparring gloves and shin/foot pads.
These can be purchased via our on-line shop HERE
Best thing is that when you purchase from us, you will know that they meet safety/insurance standards and are competitive in price.
Also purchasing from SESMA you are supporting YOUR club and not amazon/Sports Direct or a business that you have no connection with.
Kickboxers: Please do not be offended if we do not allow you to wear your gloves for sparring due to being the wrong weight gloves.

SESMA are running classes at the Phoenix Centre in Hellesdon which are open to all but mainly those of the LGBTQ community.
Many of the LGBTQ community feel anxious or believe they are not welcome to traditional spaces, even though like SESMA we are an inclusive family.
With this in mind and with the increase of hate bullying towards LGBTQ, Sensei Andrew will be teaching class on a Thursday 5:30pm at the Phoenix Centre in Hellesdon.

We have had recently a few parents asking if they can come to a different class day due to a commitments.
You may change your training days as and when and if you miss a week or we are closed due to
public holiday, you can pick up an extra class the following week.
